SNMP hubs

Hubs, or repeaters, are the simplest network devices used to create network segments. All the hubs do is to retransmit all the incoming packets to all the connections. In most case hubs are just passive devices; however there are advanced versions named SNMP hubs – the repeaters using SNMP and/or other protocols to gather statistics and control traffic flow.

Viewing the traffic data via SNMP allows to detect possible network errors sources, detect most active (‘heavy’) users and other information on traffic usage.
