SGMP

Simple Gateway Monitoring Protocol, or SGMP, was a predecessor of SNMP; SGMP was used to retrieve messages (numeric values or octet strings) from a variety of devices; the received messages are transmitted by UDP.

SGMP wasn’t too informative, allowing to know network type, interface status, route type and routing protocol.
