IPHost Monitor - Automatic Network Discovery tool

With automatic network discovery IPHost Network Monitor helps you to create a basis of your monitoring configuration. Discovery automates the task of detection network hosts and network services. IPHost Network Monitor discovers hosts and services using ICMP PING, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, Telnet. Software checks for services on default ports (both secure and non-secure), plus you can select additional custom ports to check. Monitors for different databases (Oracle, MySQL, ODBC), disc space or file, processor usage and other WMI and SNMP monitors you can add manually. Default monitoring and alerting settings let you start monitoring with minimum changes. Regular rediscoveries help you in equipment relocation/presence tracking.

Easy to follow three-page wizard helps you to specify network discovery parameters. To start the wizard click Discover Network button on the program toolbar or select Discover Network item from Tools menu.

On the first page of the wizard you can adjust IP range that will be used for discovery of network hosts and network services (monitors). IPHost Network Monitor determines subnet mask of your network automatically. Or else you can provide a list of network host names or IPs.

On the second page you can select types of services that should be detected during discovery. Current version of IPHost Network Monitor supports discovery of hosts and services using the following protocols: ICMP PING, SNMP, TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, Telnet. You can also provide a list of custom ports to be used in discovery.

"Scan for other monitors only if host responds to PING" checkbox is selected by default to speed up the discovery. But if there are hosts that don't respond to PING in you network and you want these hosts to be discovered you should deselect this checkbox.

"Activate discovered monitors" checkbox set IPHost Network Monitor to start polling discovered monitors immediately upon discovery. If you deselect this checkbox, discovered monitors remain in Discovered state and you should review discovered monitors then start them manually.

On the third page of the wizard you can set rediscovery schedule. IPHost Network Monitor can repeat rediscovery every several hours or to scan network at a specified time on selected weekdays. You can change rediscovery schedule parameters on Rediscovery tab of Settings dialog (click Settings button on the program toolbar or select Tools > Settings from the menu).

After completing the wizard please click the Scan button. Discovery will start immediately. You will be able to review discovered monitors and their properties during network discovery.

What our customers are saying about IPHost Network Monitor

"Your product is a winner - and I am very particular, this no doubt is the BEST product that I have used - IPHost removes the complexity of installation and management, and the cost [of similarly functional competitive products] - thank goodness for others referring me to your company, otherwise I would have missed out on a good thing."
